Wild Recalls Curry, Veilleux; Places Zucker, Scandella on IR

The Minnesota Wild has recalled goaltender John Curry and forward Stephane Veilleux from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). The team also announced today it has placed defenseman Marco Scandella (sprained knee) and forward Jason Zucker (lower-body) on Injured Reserve.

Curry is 7-5-2 with a 2.08 goals-against average (GAA) and a .935 save percentage (SV%) in 15 games with Iowa this season. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound netminder has also posted a 10-2-0 record, 2.66 GAA and .917 SV% in 13 games with the Orlando Solar Bears in the ECHL this season. The native of Shorewood, Minn., is 2-2-0 with a 3.79 GAA and a .867 SV% in four NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins (2008-10). He last appeared in an NHL game on Jan. 16, 2010 at Vancouver. Curry was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award during his senior season at Boston University in 2006-07. The 29-year-old was signed by Minnesota to a two-way NHL contract on Feb. 17 and wears jersey No. 30 for the Wild.

Veilleux has collected one goal and 19 penalty minutes (PIM) in 25 games with Minnesota this season and 11 points (4-7=11) and 19 PIM in 27 games with Iowa. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of St. Georges de Beauce, Que., has recorded 102 points (47-55=102) and 336 PIM in 485 NHL games with Minnesota, Tampa Bay and New Jersey. He ranks fifth in Wild history in hits (423), eighth in games played (407), ninth in PIM (288) and 11th in shots (580). The 32-year-old was originally selected by Minnesota in the third-round (93rd overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and wears No. 19 for the Wild.
