A fourth Minnesota Wild prospect has been added to his country’s National Junior Team preliminary roster. Christoph Bertschy is one of 29 players invited to Team Switzerland’s pretournament camp for the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Bertschy represented Switzerland at last year’s WJC, scoring two goals and two assists in six games. The Swiss went 2-4 at the WJC last year.
The Wild’s sixth-round pick in 2012 is one of only two Swiss forwards to have been drafted – the other Tanner Richards, a Tampa Bay Lightning draftee.
Last month, the forward ranked second on Switzerland with six points (3-3=6) in five games at the World Junior A Challenge, finishing third in the tournament. The challenge was a warm up tournament for the World Junior Championship. The Swiss finished third in the tournament.
In 25 games this season with SC Bern in the Swiss Elite League, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound center has two goals, two assists and a plus-1 rating in 25 games.
Bertschy joins fellow Wild prospects Tyler Graovac (Canada), Matt Dumba (Canada) and Mario Lucia (USA) to be invited to their country's national junior team camp.
