Houston Aeros Record: 14-8-1-3, 32 points, Second Place in South Division
During a busy weekend of three games in as many days, Houston earned three points to maintain its claim on the second place position in the South Division. The Aeros have won eight of their last 11 contests.
The Aeros visited Charlotte Friday, earning a point in a 3-2 shootout loss. Goalie Matt Hackett stopped 32-of-34 shots in regulation, but the Checkers scored with only 13 second left in regulation before claiming the shootout win. The rematch was no kinder to Houston, with a 3-0 loss Saturday morning. Goalie Darcy Kuemper made 32 saves, but Justin Peters stopped all 23 shots he faced to earn the shutout victory for Charlotte.
Houston returned to home ice and ended the weekend with a 4-3 shootout victory against Oklahoma City. Aeros Leading scorer Jason Zucker continued his hot play with an assist and a goal that tied the game with nearly two minutes left in regulation. Center Mikael Granlund tallied a goal in regulation and added the deciding goal in the shootout, while Hackett made 17 saves before stopping all four of the Barons’ shootout attempts.
This week, the Aeros travel to Cleveland for a matchup against Lake Erie Thursday at 6 p.m. CT, before facing the Monsters again Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

LW Raphael Bussieres - Baie-Comeau (QMJHL): The Wild’s second-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft notched three assists and a plus-4 rating in three games last week. On the season, the forward has 18 goals, 25 assists and a plus-21 rating.
D Mathew Dumba - Red Deer (WHL): Minnesota’s first-round pick in June’s NHL Entry Draft was held off the score sheet last week. He has 17 points (7-10=17) in 33 games.
C Tyler Graovac - Ottawa (OHL): Tallied two assists and a plus-1 rating in two games last week. Through 26 games, he has 30 points (18-12=30).
D Colton Jobke - Regina (WHL): Did not play for Regina last week after undergoing surgery to repair severed tendons in his left hand after being injured Nov. 9. Before the injury, Jobke had 13 points (1-12=13) and 42 PIM in 15 games.
D John Draeger - Michigan State (CCHA): Recorded a plus-1 rating in a weekend victory against Ferris State. In 16 games, the freshman has 5 points (1-4=5).
RW Adam Gilmour - Muskegon (USHL): Minnesota’s fourth-round selection in the June’s NHL Entry Draft totaled three points (1-2=3) and a plus-2 rating in three games last week. He is now tied for the Lumberjacks lead in points (8-12=20).
LW Erik Haula - University of Minnesota (WCHA): Minnesota did not play last week. Leads the Gophers in points (22) and assists (14), tied for the team lead in goals (8). The Gophers are ranked No. 4 in the country.
LW Mario Lucia - Notre Dame (CCHA): Notched two assists and a plus-2 rating in Notre Dame’s victory at Bowling Green Saturday. In nine games, he has 10 points (5-5=10) and is plus-4. Named to the U.S. National Junior Team Preliminary Roster and will participate in camp and exhibition games in Finland.
LW Louis Nanne - Penticton (BCHL): Totaled four points (1-3=4) in three games with the Vees last week. Penticton is the No. 2 ranked team in the BCHL with a record of 22-8-0-3. In 27 games, he has 26 points (13-13=26).
D Nick Seeler - Nebraska Omaha (WCHA): Tallied an assist and 4 PIM in the Mavericks’ weekend split versus Minnesota State. The blueliner has seven points (2-5=7) and a plus-7 rating in 16 games. Nebraska-Omaha is ranked No. 13 in the country.
RW Christoph Bertschy - SC Bern (Swiss): Bern did not play last week. In 27 games, he winger has four points (2-2=4). Named to the roster for Switzerland’s World Junior Championship Selection Camp
D Daniel Gunnarsson - Lulea HF (SEL): Lulea did not play last week. In 31 games, the defenseman has five goals, five assists and a plus-5 rating.
Johan Gustafsson - Lulea HF (SEL): Lulea did not play last week. Leads all Swedish Elite League goalies in goals-against average (1.68 GAA) and ranks second in save percentage (.930 SV%), having stopped 450-of-484 shots.
Stephen Michalek - Cedar Rapids (USHL): Allowed three total goals while earning victories in both of his appearances with Cedar Rapids last week. Owns a 3-2-1 record, a 3.30 goals against average and .876 save percentage.
