LW Matt Cooke scored the game-winning goal in the second period as 17,366 fans watched the Wild earn a 2-1 victory over the Jets Thursday night at Xcel Energy Center. Next up, Minnesota hosts the Dallas Stars Saturday at 7 p.m. on FOX Sports North and KFAN 100.3 FM.
Cooke also assisted on Brodin’s opening goal, for his first multi-point game with Minnesota and 56th of his career (1-1=2).
The Wild has outshot its opponents in all four games this season topping the Jets 30-15. Minnesota continued a strong advantage in the middle frame, outshooting Winnipeg 12-4 in the second period, for a 54-19 shot advantage over its opponents in four games this season.
Minnesota won 45-of-61 (73.8%) of faceoffs on the night –its highest single-game faceoff win percentage ever.
In his first start of the season, G Josh Harding made 14 saves to earn the win in his first action vs. Winnipeg in his career. He moved to 23-9-2 in starts at Xcel Energy Center, including 16-4-1 since Jan. 27, 2010, and 5-1-0 in his last six starts in Saint Paul.
D Ryan Suter led all players with 30:39 TOI, 5:12 more than any Jets skater. He has led time on ice in all four games this season, and leads all NHL players in TOI/game.
RW Brian Little scored for the Jets on a 5-on-3 power play in the first period.
G Ondrej Pavelec suffered his first loss to the Wild, saving 28-of-30 shots while moving to a 2-1-0 record against Minnesota.
