The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League Affiliate, swept the Charlotte Checkers in back-to-back road games this past weekend at Time Warner Cable Arena.

The Wild defeated the Checkers 7-2 on Sunday Oct. 20. Forwards Erik Haula (1-2=3), Kris Foucault (1-2=3), Zack Phillips (1-2=3), Carson McMillan (2-0=2) and Jake Dowell (1-1=2) all recorded multi-point games and Darcy Kuemper made 25 saves to earn his first win of the season. Iowa took the first victory, 3-1, over Charlotte on Saturday night. G Johan Gustafsson made 33 saves and carried a shutout into the third period before surrendering his only goal of the night ending his shutout streak at 113:51. Forwards Tyler Graovac and Phillips each scored and rookie Taylor Matson’s goal 5:20 into the third period proved to be the game winner. Phillips (2-2=4), Dowell (1-3=4) and Haula (1-3=4) lead the Wild in scoring this season with four points each while Gustafsson is 2-0-0 with a 0.50 GAA and a .984 SV% and Kuemper is 1-1-0 with a 3.04 GAA and a .898 SV%.

Iowa begins a five-game homestand Thursday against the Chicago Wolves at 7:05 p.m. The Wild will also host Grand Rapids on Sunday this week.

CANADIAN HOCKEY LEAGUES

RW Kurtis Gabriel - Owen Sound (OHL): The Wild’s third-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft was named an assistant captain Oct. 15 and has eight points (2-6=8) in eight games, including two multi-point games.

D Dylan Labbe - Shawinigan (QMJHL): Minnesota’s fourth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft leads all defensemen on Shawinigan with nine points (2-7=9) in 11 games.

COLLEGE/USHL

D Nolan De Jong - Michigan (Big Ten): The Wild’s seventh-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft recorded two penalty minutes as Michigan split a pair of games at New Hampshire.

D John Draeger - Michigan State (Big Ten): Minnesota’s third-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft is currently sidelined with an abdominal injury.

C Adam Gilmour - Boston College (Hockey East): The Wild’s fourth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft tallied three assists in Boston’s 9-2 victory vs. Wisconsin on Friday.

LW Mario Lucia - Notre Dame (Hockey East): The Wild’s second-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft recorded a goal and an assist in back-to-back home victories over Michigan Tech.

LW Louis Nanne - Souix Falls (USHL): Minnesota’s seventh-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft is currently sidelined following shoulder surgery this summer and is expected to be out until mid-December.

D Gustav Olofsson - Colorado College (NCHC): The Wild’s second-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft is out with a shoulder injury and is expected to be out four to six weeks.

C Avery Peterson - Sioux City (USHL): Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft recorded an assist in Sioux City’s 5-0 victory vs. Fargo Friday…Peterson also had two shots on goal in Saturday’s 2-1 win vs. Green Bay.

D Nick Seeler - Nebraska Omaha (NCHC): The Wild’s fifth-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft recorded 14 penalty minutes as the Mavericks split two games at Northern Michigan.

D Carson Soucy - Minnesota Duluth (NCHC): Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft tallied an assist during the Bulldog’s weekend split at Colorado College.

EUROPE

C Christoph Bertschy - SC Bern (Swiss): The Wild’s sixth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft has posted three points (2-1=3) in his second full season with Bern.

D Daniel Gunnarsson - Lulea HF (Sweden): Minnesota’s fifth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft has four assists to start his third season with Lulea.

GOALTENDERS

Alexandre Belanger - Rouyn-Noranda (QMJHL): The Wild’s seventh-round selection in this summer’s 2013 NHL Entry Draft made 30 saves in his start Oct. 17, improving to a 4-2-0 record in seven games in his return to Rouyn-Noranda.

Steven Michalek - Harvard (ECAC): Minnesota’s sixth-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft will begin his third year with Harvard as the Crimson’s regular season starts Oct. 26 vs. Bentley.
