Leaves changing colors on the trees means a few things: It's hockey season, Thanksgiving is around the corner and it's time to start growing out your moustaches for men's health.
The Minnesota Wild today announced that its Movember campaign will be presented by Jack Link’s ® Beef Jerky.
Movember is an annual charity event held during November that engages men to grow Mo’s (slang for moustache) to raise awareness and funds for cancers affecting men. Wild forward Zenon Konopka will serve as captain for the Wild Mo Bros during Movember. Wild.com will have a weekly photo gallery featuring Wild players and their Mo’s. Women are also encouraged to join the Movember movement as Mo Sistas by raising money to support the Mo Bros in their life, acting as men’s health advocates.
The Wild will hold its Movember kick-off event before its Friday, Nov. 1 game. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on top of the Xcel Energy Center Box Office, Heimie’s Haberdashery and Jack Link’s Sasquatch will be on hand to give clean shaves to local celebrities participating in Movember. The first 250 men and women to sign up to join the Wild Mo Bros that night will receive a Wild-Jack Link’s Movember t-shirt, a package of Jack Link’s Jerky and a Livestrong mini stick. Fans will also be able to sign a giant moustache that will be displayed throughout Movember. FOX Sports North analysts Mike Greenlay, Kevin Gorg and Tom Chorske, as well as Clear Channel radio personalities including Lucas (KDWB), Paul Fletcher (Cities 97), and Ben Kruse and Jack Tomzack (KTCN) will be getting a clean shave that night, and joining the Wild Mo Bros. Members of the Minneapolis Beard & Moustache Club will be on hand as well.
As part of the Jack Link’s partnership, Sasquatch will appear at both the Nov. 1 and Nov. 29 games. Also, 5,000 sample-sized bags of Jack Link’s Jerky will be handed out at the Nov. 1 and Nov. 29 games.
Fans can also join the Wild Mo Bros. Wild.com's Movember page will launch Nov. 1 with info on how to join the team, links to photo galleries, videos and all the Wild's Mo-related efforts: wild.com/movember.
The Wild Movember efforts will culminate Nov. 29, when the team will attempt to unofficially break its Guinness World Record of 1,131 moustaches, at Xcel Energy Center, set in November 2010.
