It’s not always easy staying tuned in to all things Wild online. Whether it’s a story or a funny Tweet, we’ve got you covered with the best links from around the web.
Last week CBS Sports Columnist Gregg Doyel tackled one of the hottest topics in the NHL; one the State of Hockey is all too familiar with: Josh Harding and his battle with MS.
The best part about Doyel’s column is he doesn’t pity or coo over Harding. He’s straightforward about the netminder’s career — from perennial backup to the NHL’s best — and repeatedly notes how Harding doesn’t want to talk about MS, he just wants to keep doing what he’s doing. Check out the full column here.
There’s nothing quite like a big bear hug to show your support or love for someone. And whether it’s due to a goal, a game winning save or a stellar performance, hockey players aren’t shy about spreading the love.
We at Wild.com decided there were simply too many good hockey hugs not to be shared. Check out the photo gallery of all the Wild hockey hugs from this season so far, here.
In the age of the Internet, December is a month littered with “The Best of (enter year here)” leading to an atrocious amount of lists recapping the year in some way. But last week, Puck Daddy came out with one we can get behind: the Top 10 Shootout Goals in 2013.
Not only is it a list filled with dirty dangles and ridiculous moves from the best that any hockey fan can get behind, Zach Parise enters the list at No. 4 with his first shootout goal of the season against Carolina Nov. 9. Check out the list here.
Matt Cooke had the reputation as one of the bad boys in hockey. It’s an image he’s continually trying to change.
Chad Graff from the Pioneer Press takes a look at his time with the Wild thus far, timed right after his return to Pittsburgh Thursday night. Graff notes, after talking with some of the other Wild players, that Cooke has found the line between getting under the opponents skin and getting in serious trouble. And it’s something he’s using to his advantage. Check out the story here and Cooke’s latest practice pranks here.
If you frequent Wild.com you may have noticed that you often face a splash page when visiting the website, often announcing an upcoming game or special ticket packages.
Well, our creative team has continued to make splash pages just a little more enjoyable with it’s latest installment.
On that note, Happy Holidays everyone!
Nino Niederreiter recently played in NHL career game no. 100. In honor of the night, @mnwild tweeted a graphic of El Nino’s career totals, which have taken off since finding a new atmosphere in Minnesota this season.
Here’s to many more!
Beyond playing hockey, the Wild are always working to help out the community. Recently the Wild Wives and Girlfriends helped serve a meal at the Ronald McDonald house. With Nordy in tow, the group helped put smiles on children’s faces and bring a little bit of joy to their holiday season. Check out a video on the visit here.
Down in Des Moines, the Iowa Wild kept the giving spirit going and helped distribute teddy bears to a local hospital from its first annual Teddy Bear Toss last week.
Movember certainly was a special time of year. And while not all stache’s are the same, one clearly took the crown this year: Justin Fontaine’s mo.
After we crowned him MOvember Champion a few weeks ago, the rookie asked me if he got a special prize for winning. Boy, did Jack Links Beef Jerky deliver. Check out what he got and his reaction to the honor, here.
