GAMEDAY: Wild at Columbus

Monday, 09.23.2013 / 11:17 AM

The Minnesota Wild looks to extract a little revenge tonight as the club travels to Columbus to face the Blue Jackets, who handed the Wild its only loss of the preseason thus far. The Wild was disjointed in its first game of the preseason, a 3-1 loss to the Jackets on Sept. 17, but is working towards regular season form while still evaluating several young players.

On Saturday, the Wild took a 4-3 shootout victory against the Winnipeg Jets at Xcel Energy Center. Carson McMillan and Charlie Coyle scored in the first period to give the Wild a two-goal lead, but the Jets responded with three second-period goals. Ryan Suter scored in the third period to force overtime. Jason Pominville scored the lone goal in the third round of the shootout, while Niklas Backstrom denied all three Jets shooters to secure the win.
