Demitra Will Wear The \"C\"
Once again, the Minnesota Wild will be rotating its captaincy. As long as Jacques Lemaire is head coach, do not expect that to change. It's his way of rewarding hard work and leadership, and that's what he's got out of Pavol Demitra, October's captain, thus far this year.

Demitra tore up the ice in the preseason, racking up five goals and four assists in six games. Despite the constant wondering about who will play center between him and countryman Marian Gaborik, Demitra's play hasn't wavered.

"He's been really good," said Lemaire. "He's been good for the kids, good for the team. He played well in all the exhibition games. He's a good leader and we're really happy to have him."

Demitra had never worn the "C" prior to joining the Wild. Considering the leaders that surround him in the Wild dressing room, Demitra called the honor a surprise.

"I was shocked I got the "C" in the preseason," he joked after Tuesday's practice. "Obviously, they see something. It's a little pressure, but I will just try to be my best every night. It's a great feeling, and a huge honor."

The Wild also named its alternate captains: Brian Rolston and Wes Walz. Those two will retain the "A" for the entire season, unless one is promoted to captain.

Reitz sent to Houston

The Wild also announced on Tuesday that Erik Reitz has cleared waivers and will return to the Houston Aeros, where he has played the past five seasons. Reitz remained with the club until now due to lower body injuries to Kurtis Foster and Petteri Nummelin. Nummelin skated with the team at Tuesday's practice.
