In its Northwoods setting near Webster, Wisconsin, Faith’s Lodge was created and designed for families who are facing the most challenging time of their lives – the serious illness or loss of their child. It is a place to renew, reflect and find hope. Faith’s Lodge provides an affordable, temporary respite for guests by offering them a peaceful escape to refresh their minds and spirits, while spending time with others who understand what they are going through.
Debbie Plemel of Cottage Grove was asked what she’ll always remember about her family’s trip to Faith’s Lodge. She laughed as she recounted listening to her daughter giggle her way through the woods while she rode on the Lodge’s 4-wheel Prowler with Kristi Luenzmann, Faith’s Lodge program director.
“I haven’t seen her smile like that in a long time,” Debbie recalls.

“She finished chemo on Monday and we left on Tuesday,” said Debbie. “It was an incredible break and a relief to have a normal week, one without a trip to the doctor.”
Faith’s Lodge was founded by Susan and Mark Lacek. After experiencing the loss of their daughter, Faith Ann, the Lacek’s wanted to help other parents dealing with the pain of losing a child. An early supporter of the Lacek’s mission was the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Upper Midwest (RMHC, UM.) The organization supported Faith’s Lodge with a significant three-year grant for family programming.
Faith’s Lodge sits on approximately 80 acres, which includes a small private lake and nature trails. The Lodge is more than 12,000 square feet and has eight guest suites, a great room, library, movie room, play room and arts and craft area. Guest suites can accommodate four to six people, depending on the room.
To stay at Faith’s Lodge, guests need a referral, which can be provided by health care or mental health professionals, clergy or organizations such as Ronald McDonald House Charities. There is a suggested minimum donation of $25 per night, but because the organization understands that many families undergoing these hardships are also under financial stress, families who can’t pay won’t be turned away.
