Nick Schultz undergoes appendectomy
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Minnesota Wild defenseman Nick Schultz underwent a successful appendectomy Monday evening at a local hospital. Schultz is resting comfortably and his status will be updated when more information becomes available.

The Strasbourg, Sask., native is in his sixth NHL season, and is coming off a season during which he played in 81 games, only missing the Wild's 82nd of the season Sunday in Colorado. Schultz played 82 games in 2006-07 and is a career plus-34 in 448 NHL games, all with Minnesota.

Schultz, the 33rd overall pick at the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, had played at least 19 minutes 12 of his previous 13 games, including a season-high 25:38 on March 30 vs. Calgary, and had been a minus player in only one game since Feb. 27.
