The R.S.S. Feed: April 23, 2009
Ed. Note: Sitting in for Ryan Stanzel, whose blogging efforts in the summer will be fewer than in-season, is We'll send out periodic updates when the news warrants.

Not much else to report today (we hope you caught this morning's news items -- that the Wild will send five players to the IIHF Men's World Championship and the 3M Excellence Coaching Awards list in their entirety) other than a few injury updates. Here is the official word from the organization:

Brent Burns' surgery on his right shoulder went well today. He will stay in the hospital overnight for precautionary reasons, but he is doing well. The shoulder will be immobilized for up to a month and then he will begin his rehab and is expected to be back to full strength well in time for season. His concussion symptoms have improved greatly, as evidenced by Brent's desire to have the surgery and undertake the necessary rehab regimen now.

Marc-Andre Bergeron will have back surgery next week to address a disc issue that had been bothering him off and on for some time. His rehab time is expected to be about six to eight weeks.

Keep watch over these developing situations via our Offseason Injury home page, available via this link.

And don't forget to keep an eye on, which has all the updated information on Houston's AHL playoff run, which, as of Thursday, saw the Aeros taking a 3-2 opening-round series lead after a come-from-behind win in Game 5 over the Peoria Rivermen. Game 6 is set for this Saturday night in Peoria in the 2-3-2 format.
