Randy Carlyle Quotes 10-16
ANAHEIM COACH RANDY CARLYLE
Sunday, October 16, 2005 versus Minnesota
"The frustrating part is I thought we had a decent enough start, but those two penalties where they pulled the puck to the back of the net, for what ever reason, we're inept at killing penalties. We've got to make some changes in our mindset in those situations. They're going to cost us the hockey game. That took us out of there, and the frustration level goes up."
Is there anything you can identify that's wrong with the penalty kill:
"It's a combination of things. But we've got to become stronger and win more one on one battles. Got to have opportunities to clear pucks, got to get em down and sacrifice more."
Any adjustments that you need to make:
"In the end you can't take twelve minors. That's something you have to recognize and change."
About the power play:
"Of course it's frustrating. In the first period we didn't even get in their zone. The power play was just terrible. When the other team gets two power play goals in the first period, and Minnesota is a good team, you know that it's going to be tough to beat these guys. There's a lot of hockey left. Well be able to fix this. We have to go into the game with more confidence."
