Wayne Gretzky Postgame Quotes

Tuesday, November 8, 2005 versus Minnesota

How do you think the guys played tonight:

“I thought we played well it was nice to see Lehoux get that goal.  We like the way he skates.  He is creative with the puck.  We liked what we saw of him since he just flew in on Friday.”

How big was this win:

“It was really big since we have been on the road for a while.  It is nice to be going home.  Minnesota is a good hockey club.  They came at us in waves but Curtis played outstanding tonight.  He has had two tremendous games on this road trip.  Mike Comrie had a great game tonight.  He skates with a lot of energy, he has a real passion for the game.”

How good is it to get back to .500:

“I feel happy for the guys because they have worked very hard to get to this point.  We have a long way to go but I think we are headed in the right direction.  I told them you earn your respect and I think they are starting to get it.”

Curtis Joseph

What happened on that goal they reviewed:

“It was right on the line and I just got over in time before it got over the line.  I knew when it went up for review that it would probably not be a goal.”

What happened on that long shot that went in:

“I thought I could catch it but it caught an edge.  It was a miscue on my part and I’ll take responsibility for that.  I cannot remember the last time one like that went in.”

The guys seemed to be playing well in front of you:

“Early on we were losing the one goal games and now we seem to be winning them.  We have been on the road for a while.  We are now going home on a nice home stand.  It would be nice to build on this win.  We laid off the penalties and the guys play well in front of me and I was able to see the puck very well.”
