Jacques Lemaire Postgame Quotes

MINNESOTA COACH JACQUES LEMAIRE QUOTES
Tuesday, November 8, 2005 versus Phoenix

What did you see on replay and what did the Ref tell you about the goal that got reviewed:

“I asked why they reversed the call and he said they couldn’t see that the puck was in and I said, ‘you saw it because you called it.”  He said, “I wasn’t sure but in the excitement, I called it.” “

Three-zero hole is tough to get out of:

“We made four mistakes.  At the start they scored on three goals on it.  With guys not coming back, wingers not coming back, they score three goals out of it and after that we settled down a bit.  I came in after the first period and told them we are not playing that bad.  When we see that they are coming up, we know they are a good rush team.  They have been getting a lot of goals against a lot of teams with their rushes and we have to come back.  I think we gave them about six odd-man rushes and they scored four goals of it.”

“We have to go over these types of mistakes so we don’t repeat them.  We worked so hard to get a goal.  Why don’t we work hard to prevent a goal?  I don’t mind a 1-0 game.”

Kyle Wanvig

What did you think about the goal that was reversed:

“The coaches were trying to find out if the call was inconclusive.  The guys upstairs said that he covered the puck on the line.  They said they had a clear view of the puck on the side view.  We all put our hands up like it was a goal so… .”

To be down 3-0 after the first period:

“To be down 3-0 after the first period and play as well as we did, to be honest through the whole game we showed the character of our team.  Especially with the guys we are missing and a lot of young guys in the line up played their hearts out.”
