Jacques Lemaire Postgame Quotes

MINNESOTA COACH JACQUES LEMAIRE
Saturday, November 19, 2005 vs Nashville

Talk about your 5 on 5 play:

“They played the way they practiced.  It goes with the system.  We back checked, we fore checked, we helped each other out.  We got good shots from the defensemen.  Thus, we scored a few goals from our defensemen.”

How do you feel the guys responded after they made it 3 to 2:

“I could see the guys talking, staying positive, they wanted to take charge.”

How important was that first goal:

“It was huge.  I was scared at the beginning of the game.  I didn’t know how we would start the game after the pre-game ceremony.  They all played well.  They played together as a team.”

How did Foster look for his first game in the NHL:

“He looked very good.  That second goal was definitely an NHL shot.  He looked before shooting.  I think the goalie was a little surprised it went in.”

KURTIS FOSTER

How does it feel to be called up in the NHL:

“I’ve been playing well in Houston and it was nice to get the call.  I was actually in the airport waiting to go to Winnipeg.  So I went down to baggage to get my stuff and waited there for about two hours and everything went to Winnipeg.  But it is really nice to play in front of a crowd like this and obviously it was nice to get two goals.  I had a couple of good chances in the third as well.  It was nice to get a couple of practices in before I played tonight.”

What did Jacques say to you guys before the game tonight:

“Jacques said just to work hard.  He said for the defensemen to try and get some shots on goal, play well in your own zone but definitely try and get some shots off.  It was nice to get that power play goal in the third period.  Hopefully we can build on this.”
