 Neil Sheehy was a member of the Calgary Flames team that reached the 1986 Stanley Cup Finals against Montreal.

In partnership with the Minnesota NHL Alumni Association, presented by Comcast, presented by Comcast, will feature an Alumni member each week.

It’s a great way for us to catch up with a number of former players who made their mark in Minnesota, in one way or another. This week, we hear from Neil Sheehy, an International Falls native, now making his living as an agent.

Calgary Flames (1983-1988, 1992)

Minneapolis, Minnesota

What are you doing now?

I am a licensed attorney and an NHLPA certified agent

Family life:

I have four daughters; seven years old and three that are five years old.

Do any of your immediate family members play hockey?

No.

 Gary Suter was a teammate of Sheehy with the 1986 Stanley Cup finalist Calgary Flames.

What playoff teams did you play for?

Calgary in ’84, ’85, ’86 and ’87. Hartford in ’88. Washington in ’89, ’90 and ’91. 

Did you ever win the Stanley Cup?

No. Calgary lost to Montreal in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1986.

What was your most memorable hockey moment?

Beating the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champion Edmonton Oilers in Game Seven in 1986.

What was the best team you ever played on?

The 1986 Calgary Flames.

Who was your best teammate?

Gary Suter. We were the best of friends.

Who was your best coach?

Bob Johnson, because of his unrelenting optimism.

Who is your favorite player in the game today?

All of the guys that I represent.
