Voloshenko scored two goals in six games for Russia in the 2005 World Junior Championships. The Russians lost to Canada in the Gold Medal Game but enter this year’s tournament favored by many.

"Roman’s development to be an NHL player is the number one priority for him in hockey right now," Aeros general manager/Minnesota Wild assistant general manager Tom Lynn said. "Roman was a big part of Russia’s Silver Medal-winning team at last year’s World Juniors. We expect him to again gain valuable experience in the tournament and augment his development by playing with the most skilled young players in the world. Wild players and prospects such as Pierre-Marc Bouchard, Nick Schultz, Brent Burns and Patrick O’Sullivan have benefited greatly from the competition at World Juniors."

Voloshenko, 19 (5/12/86) ranks first among all AHL rookies and second overall with 17 goals in 26 games. His 27 points (17-10=27) rank third-most among rookies and are tied for 14th in the league. Voloshenko also has 10 power play goals, second-most in the AHL and already halfway to the Aeros’ team record, set by Jeff Christian in 1998-99.

Team Russia plays its first game Monday, Dec. 26 against Sweden at Kelowna’s Prospera Place. The Gold Medal Game is set for Thursday, Jan. 5 for GM Place in Vancouver.
