SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – USA Hockey announced today that Minnesota Wild C Brian Rolston has been named to the 23-man roster of the 2006 U.S. Men’s Olympic Ice Hockey team and will play in his third Olympic Winter Games February 15-26 in Torino, Italy.
“It is always an honor to represent your country,” Rolston said. “I am excited to play in the Olympics again for Team USA.”
Rolston, 32 (2/21/73), has 85 points (40-45=85) in 88 lifetime games with Team USA, including experience as a member of three World Junior Championship teams, two Olympic teams, two World Cup of Hockey teams and lone appearances on the 1993-94 U.S. National Team and the 1996 World Championship Team.
A native of Flint, Michigan, Rolston was a member of the silver-medal winning 2002 U.S. Olympic Team, skating in all six games and recording three assists. Rolston also earned a gold medal in the 1996 World Cup of Hockey, as well as a bronze in the 1996 World Championships.
No member of the Wild has ever skated in the Winter Olympics while playing for Minnesota.
Three Minnesota natives - defenseman Jordan Leopold and forwards Mark Parrish and Jason Blake - will join Rolston in Italy.
