Joel Quenneville Postgame Quotes

Thursday, January 05, 2006 versus Minnesota

You came out big early.  “That first 10 to 15 minutes it was all David (Aebischer) before we finally got it out of our end there.  But I thought he was very square and strong tonight.  He was a big factor in us winning again.  It was nice to see him come back with a strong effort.”

You took advantage of the opportunities that you did get.  “We were very opportunistic tonight.  You know our first two chances, breakaways.  The timely kill after they make it 3 to 1.  Then jumping out of the box with another breakaway goal.  It was a fortunate play for us.  The guys made some nice plays on the breakaways.”

David Aebischer

Have you been looking forward to being steady in the net, and then be able to lean on the offense to give you some opportunities?  “Of course.  The last two games I’ve played better, the way I can.  It felt good.  I’ve been struggling for a while and it’s good to be back.  And I think team wise so far the last three games we’ve played really well as a team.  And that’s what we have to keep doing to climb up the ladder.”

Patrice Brisebois

This was a good effort for your team tonight.  “It was a big two points.  We knew that Minnesota played well recently.  They just beat Detroit, so the key tonight is our power play came out big.  The PK came out big too, and Abbey (David Aebisher) played extremely well in front of the net.  First period he made three to five key saves to keep us in the game.  And we scored the first goal, and then the second goal, so we played with confidence after that.”
