Jacques Lemaire Postgame Quotes

Saturday, January 07, 2006 versus Anaheim

Your thoughts how the guys played tonight.

“They moved the puck well, and they skated very well.  They seemed to know where the other guy was all the time.  It was a tight checking game the first two periods.  We had a couple power play goals in the third period and seemed to take that over.  We bounced back tonight even though I thought we played well on Thursday.  Right now we are on a good roll.  We still had a couple guys tonight that could have played better, but as a whole I thought we played very well.”

Talk about Tjarnqvist (Daniel) play.

“He seems like a changed man.  He’s playing with a lot of confidence, and he’s playing very well in front of the net.  We are very pleased with the way he’s playing.”

Marian Gaborik

Nice game for you guys tonight.

“Yes we started very well.  The goal by Boogaard (Derek) was huge.  It was a strong fore check, he made a nice play.  We played disciplined.  Manny (Fernandez) played very well.  There wasn’t much room in the first or second period for either team.  It was the same way we played when we played them in the playoffs.  Their third guy stayed back, our third guy stayed back.  Then in the third period we seemed to take over.”

You’ve had a lot of shots, but not a lot of points lately.  Do you change anything?

“I just try and keep going, create chances both for me and with passes, and go for the rebound.  Veilleux (Stephane) made a nice pass on my breakaway and I decided to go low blocker, especially with a butterfly goalie.  We needed this game, it was a great win for us.”
