Andy Murray Postgame Quotes
LOS ANGELES COACH ANDY MURRAY QUOTES
Tuesday, February 07, 2006 versus Minnesota
Tough night tonight coach.
“Minnesota’s been playing well. I thought we turned it around a little bit when we played Anaheim and Phoenix, but we took too many unnecessary penalties, and our penalty killing was not good. Obviously the players don’t want to play this way because every point is important. We have to just fight through it, try to keep the guys so there is no negativity. But there was no excuse for not playing well tonight.”
What do you feel the turning point was?
“I thought when we got the penalty on Gleason (Tim), I thought that was the turning point. We watched that on the replay five times, and it looks like he made a good play on Gaborik (Marian). We could not see a hold. He kind of pushes at him, at no time did we see his hand close, and Gaborik goes down. We had a lot of penalties, but that one seemed iffy to us, but the refs saw it different. But you have to give Minnesota credit, they scored five power-play goals. They are a very structured team. They are my second favorite team (obviously behind the Kings). And they are not a close second. Minnesota scored some good goals, and they caught us out of position.”
Does a losing streak seem to get in the guys heads?
“I think so. Seems like when your on a loosing streak, all the bounces seem to go the other teams way, and they had a couple of those tonight. Then you get frustrated. We have back to back games, so we have to try and win tomorrow. We have three games left before the break. We feel like we need to win them. We have to battle out of this because the teams below us are closing in.”
How important are the points this time of year?
“They are very important. We are still in the playoffs. There are teams that are chasing us. We need to get as many wins as we can, and start feeling good about ourselves. I’ve been with this team six years, and I don’t want to miss the playoffs again. Our special teams have to do better, and we have to stay positive.”
