Joel Quenneville Postgame Quotes

COLORADO COACH JOEL QUENNEVILLE
Thursday, February 09, 2006 versus Minnesota

You said the other night you’d like to just move past some of these teams.  Now you get Edmonton, move ahead of them.  You leapfrog them.  Is it just one at a time?

“I think every game is huge.  We’re still trying to finish strong going into the break, and hopefully we can.  The last two games we got by one and two teams at the end of it.  It’s never going to let up.  We’ve still got every team we’re playing, it’s their biggest game of the year.  We’re going to be saying the same thing from not only these next two, but when we get out of the break.”

Joe Sakic

You picked a good time to put the puck in the top shelf.  It looked like it was rolling on you a little bit.

“That was a good thing.  With a rolling puck, no one knows where it’s going.  Usually a rolling puck gets away a little quicker.”

Abby (David Aebischer) kept you in the game.

“You know what, they’ve got a fast hockey team.  They work in or on you.  Especially that first period.  We gave up a lot of shots in the slot, and he made some good saves for us.”

On getting past Edmonton.

“You know what, it’s going to be up and down all year with all the teams.  You’ve just got to try and get all the points you can and hopefully you’re just fighting for position.”

David Aebischer

Are the breaks going your way?

“I’m playing more consistently.  I think that’s the key.  I have more confidence, and more fun playing the game right now, than I did before the season.  I don’t know why that is, but I’m pleased the way it’s going.”

There were five shots on goal the last minute and 20 seconds on the power play.  Did you see everything pretty well?

“Yeah, I saw everything pretty well.  I was in good position, pretty much on any shot they had.  I’m pretty pleased with the way I moved tonight.”
