Center Mikko Koivu did not register a point in Finland’s 2-0 win over Germany on Tuesday, the fourth shutout of the tournament posted by Team Finland. The Finns finished the preliminary round with a perfect 5-0-0 record, and will have the number one seed out of Group A.

That means the United States, the fourth seed out of Group B, will be Finland’s quarterfinal opponent on Wednesday.

Defenseman Filip Kuba recorded one shot on goal for the Czech Republic in Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to Canada. Kuba and his teammates will advance to the medal round after securing the fourth and final spot from Group B.

There, the Czechs will face their biggest rival - undefeated Slovakia - on Wednesday.

Defenseman Daniel Tjarnqvist was held pointless, along with his Swedish teammates, who were shutout by Slovakia, 3-0 on Tuesday. Tjarnqvist posted one penalty and a -3 rating.

Tjarnqvist and Sweden will take on surprising Team Switzerland on Wednesday.

Right wing Marian Gaborik picked up one assist in Slovakia’s 3-0 shutout of Sweden on Tuesday, solidifying an undefeated preliminary round. Gaborik assisted on Marian Hossa’s third period goal, which gave Team Slovakia a 2-0 advantage. He also posted a +1 rating and recorded three shots on goal.

Slovakia will face the Czech Republic in Wednesday’s quarterfinal round.

Left wing Brian Rolston picked up his first multi-point game of the Olympics on Tuesday, tallying a power play goal and an assist in a 5-4 loss to Russia. Rolston converted Team USA’s first goal by slamming home a Craig Conroy centering feed in the first period. He started a play that ended with Scott Gomez tying the game at 3-3 early in the third period.

Rolston and Team USA will have their hands full with Team Finland in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. Team Finland has yielded just two goals in the entire tournament.
