Joel Quenneville Postgame Quotes
COLORADO COACH JOEL QUENNEVILLE
Sunday, March 05, 2006 versus Minnesota
It seemed like things were falling a little bit off tonight.
“It was a pretty good game. It’s comparable to all the games we played against them this year. They had a great opportune goal at four minutes on that short handed goal. A short handed goal is usually a big swing in a game, and tonight was a good example of that.”
Is it tough when you’ve had so much success against Minnesota to do that continually?
“Every game’s close against them. We’ve been fortunate to get a timely goal against them. I know Joe (Sakic) scored earlier in the year the last time we played. That’s basically how it went tonight. It was a tight game, a pretty competitive game. The power play wasn’t very effective.”
“We know in this room that we can play better. I know it’s tough to play two games in two nights, but maybe we need to compete a little bit better, especially the first period against Dallas. But that’s the way it is. You just have to bounce back and play better the next game.”
Do you see a lot of desperation on that team (Minnesota)?
“Yeah, they played desperate, they played the way they play best. Today was enough for them, unfortunately not for us.”
Is Gaborik (Marian) a tough guy in the breakaway?
"He’s so fast. He has a really good shot so you have to take that into consideration when it comes down to it. He can go sideways too, so of course he’s one of the better guys in the league.”
