Jacques Lemaire Postgame Quotes

Sunday, March 12, 2006 versus Edmonton

Talk about the power play.

“There were a lot of penalties, and a lot of holding.  The last few games there weren’t many penalties.  Tonight it was a different story, especially on the five on threes, and we took advantage.  I wanted to stay with the same guys, that’s why I called that time out on the five on three.  We moved the puck very well, and got some good shots on the power play.”

Do you think Rollie (Dwane Roloson) looked a little shaky tonight?

“I think he was fighting the puck early, he probably put a little pressure on himself, and with playing last night, and playing against his old team in front of the fans tonight, I think he applied a little extra pressure to himself.”

Can you figure out why Bouchard (Pierre-Marc) plays so well against Edmonton?

“I think it just happens.  He’s gotten a lot of points on the power play.  Edmonton plays aggressive, and that might suite his play.”

Was it nice to get a win and not have Gabby (Marian Gaborik) score?

“Yes, we’ve relied on him the last four or five games, it’s nice to get a win and have somebody else score, but we need that if we’re going to win.”

Brian Rolston

You guys seem to have the power play working tonight.

“We moved the puck around pretty well on the five on three.  We got the two quick goals and the one late to win it.  On the second one I scored, Bouchard put it on my tape, and I just Teed it up and it went in.”

Were you surprised at all the penalties Edmonton took?

“I think they were calling a lot more tonight, which created a lot more power plays.  So with them calling more penalties, you have to be careful out there with what you do.  Our line has been playing really well lately, and it shows by our line getting ten points tonight.”

Did you talk in the locker room about playing against Rollie tonight?

“A little bit.  We knew he’d be up for the game.  He has a lot of friends in this locker room, but we still have to go out there and play.  We all wish Rollie the best.”
