Jacques Lemaire Postgame Quotes

Tuesday, March 14, 2006 versus Edmonton

The disallowed goal, the ref was signaling, then changed his mind.  What was the explanation that you got?

“Well the explanation is, it came from the ref that was at center ice, and he said that the goalie couldn’t come back to the center of the net because our player was there, and that’s why it was disallowed.”

Wes (Wes Walz) is going for a loose puck though.  That doesn’t jive with what occurred.

“I don’t think that’s what happened.  When Rollie couldn’t come back in the middle, Wes got pushed towards Rollie, that’s why he couldn’t come back.

It’s not so much the goal that you didn’t get, but forty seconds later it’s the one that you give up.

“It changed the momentum, there’s no doubt.  You know when there’s a goal refused, and then two shifts after they score, and momentum changes.  I myself, I felt we didn’t put pucks at the net as much as we did in the first game against them.  We did in the third, and we looked much better, and we did get a goal too.  We did have more success in the first game, by getting some shots, driving at the net, which makes the goalie a little more nervous.”

Marc Chouinard

You had plenty of chances tonight.

“As a goalie he (Dwayne Roloson) did his job.  He was square on every shot.  I know I had a few tips tonight, and I would have wanted them to go in or something, but Roli played them well.  They did the job they wanted to do.”

Power play was a weapon the other night.  They seemed to get in front of shots and it was hard to keep control.

“They did at first.  But we did have control.  Certain nights you can’t even get in the zone and get shots and get opportunities to score.  Tonight we certainly tired to do that, but we didn’t have the finish.  They played us far, and got control, and got some shots.  And a few good bounces here and there, and all of a sudden it’s a different game.  But it’s obviously disappointing to lose the game tonight.”
