Jacques Lemaire Postgame Quotes

Tuesday, March 21, 2006 versus Calgary

Were you happy with the effort tonight?

“Yes, I feel this was one of our best games.  It started with the goal tending, the defense played real well, and the forwards did their jobs.  Everyone was involved.  I felt we were good with the puck tonight.”

Talk about all the shots the last two games.

“The first game we had a lot of power plays.  Ten to twelve on the power play alone.  Today we had a little more puck control in the offensive zone, and a lot of our shots came from the defense.”

How do you feel Erik Westrum played?

“He looked real good early.  He made some good plays and some smart plays.  I thought he got a little tired in the third period.  He played better than I thought he would.  I hope he keeps it up.”

You seemed to have outworked them tonight.

“Everyone knows how hard they play and how intense they are.  It was nice to see us play that way.  I would like to see us play that way more often.”

Marian Gaborik

Great game for you guys tonight.

“They’re a tough team to play against, especially back to back games like we played.  This was a big win for us.  We have to keep it up going into Dallas tomorrow.”

You out shot them both games.

“We were talking about getting a lot of shots on them and trying to go for the rebound, and it worked out tonight.  The vets have stepped up a little bit and are playing better.  Rolston’s (Brian) short handed goal was a big one.  He showed great speed getting around the defense.  We’ve been giving up a lot of third period goals lately and loosing the game.  It was nice to win this one.”

How did it feel to have the A on your jersey tonight?

“I couldn’t believe it when they told me.  It’s an honor.  I’ve been here five years, I’m glad I have it.  I have to go out and work hard, and create chances like we did tonight.”
