IN 2006 NCAA DIVISION I MEN’S ICE HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP

Minnesota Wild Offers Delayed Telecast of NHL Game If Gophers Make Final;
Minnesota Timberwolves Agree to Change Telecast Date, Making Room for Semifinal

FSN North today announced that it would televise live the West Regional Final in the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship, provided that the University of Minnesota wins its opening game against Holy Cross. The live telecast of the West Regional Final was made possible when the Minnesota Wild offered to delay its NHL telecast if the Gophers were playing.

 Preceding the West Regional Final will be a special hour-long telecast of FSN Live. Viewers will be able to watch the Wild game against the San Jose Sharks immediately following the West Regional Final. If the Gophers do not make the Regional Final, FSN North will televise the Wild game live as regularly scheduled.

 “This demonstrates our continuing commitment to provide the best in local sports programming," said FSN North Vice President and General Manager Mike Dimond.  "This is a concerted effort with our team partners, the Wild and the Timberwolves.  We would not have been able to achieve this had it not been for their cooperation."

"The Wild are proud to be a part of the State of Hockey, and committed to all loyal hockey fans in Minnesota," said Bill Robertson, Wild Vice President, Communications and Broadcasting. "This is an exciting time of year for the game and its fans, and we’re happy to play a role in the enjoyment of both Wild and Gopher hockey this weekend."

On Monday, FSN North announced it would offer live telecasts of both opening games in the West Regional. The Minnesota Timberwolves provided this opportunity when they allowed FSN North to switch its scheduled telecast between the Timberwolves and Toronto to Minnesota’s April 16 game against the San Antonio Spurs.

“The Timberwolves are Minnesotans first and foremost,” said Ted Johnson, Timberwolves Vice President of Communications.  “We are proud to play a role in ensuring that fans will see our Gopher hockey team play in the NCAA tournament.”
