Jacques Lemaire Postgame Quotes

Sunday, April 2, 2006 versus Detroit

Their power play looked pretty good tonight

“Yeah, well there is a reason why that team is on top of the league.  They have guys that move the puck very well, guys that can shoot, they can make plays.  They see the entire ice and they know where the guys are.  Its fun to watch but not behind the other bench.

With all the skill they have they seem to be peaking at the right time

“Well, that’s not what Coach Babcock told me.  He said they were not playing that good but he is looking to see this team climbing just before the playoffs which would be the right time to do it.”

Manny Fernandez

The Red Wings played pretty well

“They are playing well and there are tight.  Like tonight they got a little more to the net, so I think they are getting prepared in that they are not opening up in the sense that you usually see that team open up.  Essentially you can get some chances but tonight I felt they were really tight and they would rather get a shot and try to get the rebound.  That is the team that is getting prepared for the playoffs.  Tight hockey and they played well defensively, that is how it starts and they go from there.  Every power play they got, they beared down and they really got us on the power play tonight.”

This team is notorious for getting a lot of shots, how do you prepare for that?

“Every time that I played against them, I prepared different with these guys.  I haven’t been successful.  Tonight I told myself ‘to keep playing the way you have, if the work load comes, then you will be there.  And if it doesn’t just not get prepared for a big burst all the time and just do what you have to do.’
