Mike Babcock Postgame Quotes

DETROIT COACH MIKE BABCOCK QUOTES
Sunday, April 2, 2006 versus Minnesota

How do you feel you played tonight?

“I think we played well.  We have our energy back.  I don’t think we played very well in the first seven minutes or so but we held the puck a lot tonight and played better than we have been lately.”

A team with 27 road wins this season is pretty impressive, what has been happening at home?

“We play good on the road and we don’t try to be as cute as we do at home.  We take short shifts and keep the pace of the game moving. At home I don’t know if we are just over confident or what it is.  All-in-all, we are pretty good on the road and at home.  We have a good club and we are pretty fortunate.”

Comment about your power play against Minnesota

“We want to have a good power play going into the Playoffs.  We don’t want teams screwing around with us.  We try to make sure we are very, very efficient so we don’t do anything stupid.”

Nicklas Lidstrom

You have been successful on the road this season, what is different about your lack of success at home?
“I think sometimes at home we forget to pass.  On the road we are more relaxed than at home and we give ourselves a chance. We are more patient on the road.”

Comment on Steve Yzerman.  It seems he can’t go a game these days without getting at least two points

“He getting better and better down the stretch.  He’s hanging onto the puck longer and creating opportunities and scoring.  His groin injury was a struggle earlier on in the season and I’m sure it was tough getting back but he looking okay.

How much longer do you plan to keep playing?

”I haven’t really thought too much about it.  Right now I’m more focused on finishing the season.  I do see myself playing another couple of years.”
