Westrum Called Back Up
The Erik Westrum era in Minnesota isn’t over.

Looking to fill in a hole after an injury to Pascal Dupuis in Tuesday night’s 2-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, Westrum was recalled from Houston on Wednesday. This will be the former Gopher’s second stint with the Wild this season. He was originally called up from Houston on March 20, when he was the second-leading scorer in the American Hockey League with 92 points in 68 games.

The Apple Valley native played in eight games and did not register a point, but recorded 10 shots on goal and averaged just over 11 minutes of ice time. He was reassigned to Houston on Friday, April 7. Since then, Westrum has appeared in two games with the Aeros and scored two goals and two assists in a pair of Houston victories. He now ranks second on the team with 96 points.

Dupuis, who suffered a bone bruise, traveled with the team to Nashville for the season-ending two-game homestand, and while he won’t play against the Predators, he may play in the season finale at Dallas.

Westrum is expected to re-join the Aeros for the Calder Cup playoffs following the conclusion of the NHL regular season.
