Aeros Announce 2006-07 Schedule

AEROS’ 2006-07 SCHEDULE IS RELEASED

Houston begins season at home October 7 against Grand Rapids

HOUSTON – The Houston Aeros, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, have announced their 2006-07 regular season schedule. (Download PDF schedule, Download PDF home schedule, Download schedule into Outlook/Handheld Device)

The Aeros will open up their 13th season on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Toyota Center at 7:35 p.m. against the Grand Rapids Griffins. Houston follows that game up the next night, Sunday, Oct. 8 with a 5:05 p.m. home game against the Iowa Stars. The Aeros play 28 of their 40 home games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. This marks just the second time in franchise history the Aeros have begun the season with two straight home games, having hosted Utah twice in 2002-03.

The Aeros’ regular season schedule features 7:05 p.m. game times Monday-Thursday, 7:35 p.m. starts Friday and Saturday and 5:05 p.m. Sunday start times. The Thursday, Feb. 1 game against Milwaukee will begin at 11:05 a.m. as part of the Aeros’ annual Chronicle in Education Kids Day Game.

The Aeros’ division schedule will remain the same, with 12 games (six home, six road) against in-state rival San Antonio, 10 contests (five home, five road) versus Iowa, Omaha and Peoria and eight games (four home, four road) against Chicago and Milwaukee. The Aeros will play 29 of their 40 home games and 58 of their 80 overall games against their division foes.

Houston will take on every Western Conference team, facing North Division foes and long-time rivals Grand Rapids and Manitoba four times (two home, two road) and Hamilton, Rochester, Syracuse and Toronto twice each (one home, one road). The Aeros will take on Eastern Conference foes Hartford, Manchester and Worcester two times each (one home, one road).

The Aeros embark on a five-game road trip after the opening two home games – making their only two trips of the season to Grand Rapids – before playing a four-game homestand October 27-November 3. Hamilton and Toronto each make their lone trips of the season to Toyota Center during that stretch.

A busy November includes 13 games – six at home – and has two visits from a retooled San Antonio Rampage squad, plus Hartford’s only trip to Houston on Sunday, Nov. 19.

Houston is home for the holidays, playing nine home games between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, including a day-after-Christmas tilt against San Antonio.

January includes a pair of three-game homestands – including Milwaukee’s first two trips to Houston on Sunday, Jan. 21 and Tuesday, Jan. 23 – with a trip to the Northeast and Worcester, Manchester and Hartford to finish out the month.

The Aeros play eight of 11 games at home in February, including back-to-back sets with each Omaha, Chicago and Milwaukee, before finishing out the month with a key home-and-home set with Milwaukee.

As usual, March is a grueling month for the Aeros, who play nine of their first 10 games on the road to cap off a stretch of 10 of 11 games away from Toyota Center. The second five-game road trip kicks off a stretch of five road games in six nights, and seven games in nine nights overall. Houston kicks off a five-game homestand Friday, March 23, against Rochester, and the set finishes Tuesday, April 3 versus Peoria.

The Aeros get to play three of their final four games at home, including a Friday, April 13 tilt against Iowa. The season then ends with a home-and-home against San Antonio, with the regular season finale at Toyota Center on Sunday, April 15 against the Rampage.

The Aeros have a pair of five-game homestands, while they make a trio of five-game road trips. Houston plays three games in three nights just seven times – down from 10 in 2005-06.

Home games by month – October 4, November 6, December 7, January 6, February 8, March 5, April 4

Home games by day – Monday 0, Tuesday 3, Wednesday 3, Thursday 5, Friday 10, Saturday 10, Sunday 8
