Wild Recalls D Clayton Stoner
Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defenseman Clayton Stoner from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Wild also assigned goaltender Anton Khudobin (who-DOH-bin) and defenseman Jaime Sifers to the Aeros.

Stoner, 24 (2/19/85), leads the Aeros and ranks tied for fifth in the AHL with a +14 rating to go along with 10 points (3-7=10) and 52 penalty minutes in 26 games. Stoner has played parts of five seasons with the Aeros, recording 80 points (15-65=80) and 407 PIM in 283 AHL games. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound native of Port McNeill, B.C., was the Wild’s third-round pick (No. 79 overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Stoner, who has never appeared in an NHL regular season game, will wear No. 7 with the Wild.

Khudobin, 23 (5/7/86), was recalled from Houston on Dec. 15 and backed up Niklas Backstrom that night. Khudobin is 9-7-1 with a 1.89 GAA, a .921 SV% and four shutouts – tied for the AHL lead – in 18 games this season for the Aeros. Khudobin helped lead Houston to the Western Conference Finals last season, with an 8-8 postseason mark, along with a 2.70 GAA and a .900 SV%. Khudobin was the ECHL’s Goaltender of the Year and an all-ECHL selection in 2007-08, when he went 20-1-4 with a 1.98 GAA and a .934 SV% for Texas. The 5-foot-11, 176-pound native of Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, was originally selected by Minnesota in the seventh round (206th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Sifers, 26 (1/18/83), was most recently recalled from the Aeros on Dec. 2. Sifers has no points and is a +1 in eight games with the Wild this season. Sifers has posted three assists and nine penalty minutes in 15 games with the Aeros. Sifers recorded two assists and 18 PIM in 23 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008-09. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound native of Stratford, Conn., played collegiately at the University of Vermont, where he was an ECAC Second All-Star Team selection in 2005. The Wild signed Sifers as a free agent July 8.
