Numbers Game: Brent Burns
The Minnesota Wild and General Manager Chuck Fletcher will be playing the numbers game this summer. Whether it be signing, trading, drafting, inviting or cutting, Fletcher has to put together a roster of salaries that fits under the NHL's salary cap. The players that make up that roster will be asked to put up big numbers in order for the club to have a successful season in Year X.

The 2010-2011 version of the Wild is starting to round into form after the NHL Draft and free agency. With some changes made, let's take a look at some of the numbers by players that will play major roles in Year X. Today, we look at the Wild's all-time top scoring defenseman: Brent Burns.

Other Numbers: Antti Miettinen; Greg Zanon; Niklas Backstrom; Guillaume Latendresse; Cal Clutterbuck; Andrew Brunette; Mikko Koivu; Marek Zidlicky

3. . . Burns is the franchise's all-time defensive leader in goals (38), game-winning goals (10) and points (137).

4. . . Burnzie picked up an assist in four consecutive games in March, although that streak spanned more than two weeks due to missing six games with a hip injury.

+4. . . Brent's career high +/- rating established in a 5-4 overtime loss to Carolina on November 15.

1. . . Burns picked up one assist in all three games he played against the Calgary Flames.

5. . .  His assist total in seven games with Team Canada at the 2010 World Championships.

47. . .  Burns missed 35 games due to injury last season, forcing him to play in just 47 games last season, his lowest total since playing 36 during his rookie season in 2003-04.
