With Brent Burns returning to the lineup after serving a two-game suspension, the Minnesota Wild suddenly had eight defensemen, and one tough decision. To get down to one extra defensemen, the Wild had to send one blueliner to Houston. That turned out to be Justin Falk, who heads to Houston after appearing in all but one of the Wild's first 17 games this season.
The 22-year-old native of Snowflake, Manitoba totaled two assists and six PIM thus far this season. As of now, he leads all Wild defensemen with a +2 rating.
The 6-foot-5, 215-pound blueliner will make his first trip to Houston this season after registering nine points (3-6=9) and 87 PIM in 69 games with the Aeros last season.
His departure leaves the Wild with seven defensemen, including Marco Scandella, who has impressed in his last two games, and assisted on last night's Antti Miettinen overtime game-winner against Anaheim.
