Fantasy Spotlight: MIN at LA

Fantasy Pick: Mikko Koivu

Captain Mikko Koivu is arguably the most intense player in the Wild locker room, if not in the entire league. On a normal day, you might sneek a peek of Koivu smiling with his teammates, but be nothing short of determined and a work horse out on the ice.

Lately, Koivu's been even more intense than usual. As his line has struggled to find the same success it showed last year, you can see the frustration written all over his face. Koivu, along with his linemates Antti Miettinen and Andrew Brunette, have watched video and spent extra time to after practice to get out of their mini-slump.

Their efforts seem to be paying off: they've been the best line in the Wild's past two games, including Thursday's win in Phoenix. Koivu seems to be as feisty as ever, registering three assists in his last two games and dominating opposing players on the ice.

Despite finding some difficulty on the ice this season, Koivu still ranks second on the Wild with 22 points (5-17=22) in 27 games. He also leads Minnesota with a +5 rating and ranks second with 65 shots on the season.

It won't be surprising if Koivu continues to impress in Los Angeles tonight. He has 17 points (2-15=17) in 17 career contests against the Kings. His 15 career assists against LA are his most against any NHL team except Edmonton (23).
