Wild Prospects Report - Dec. 14


HOUSTON AEROS (15-11-1-2, 6th in West Division) –
The Aeros went 2-1-0-0 this past week, beating Oklahoma City 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday, downing San Antonio 5-3 on Friday, and then falling to Lake Erie 5-2 on Sunday. LW Robbie Earl (2-3=5), C Chad Rau (1-4=5), and C Casey Wellman (4-1=5) co-led Houston with five points each this week. Wellman’s four goals all came Friday night vs. San Antonio. G Anton Khudobin recorded both wins in goal. Overall, Earl (7-9=16), D Maxim Noreau (7-9=16) and RW Jean-Michel Daoust (5-11=16) co-lead Houston with 16 points while Khudobin owns team bests in wins (11), goals against average (2.44) and save percentage (.918). This week the Aeros will hit the road, playing at Hamilton on Tuesday, at Grand Rapids on Wednesday, then at Manitoba on Friday and Saturday.

Canadian Hockey Leagues

LW Brett Bulmer - Kelowna (WHL):
Second round pick (39th overall) in 2010 Draft registered an assist on a game-winning goal to push his point total to 20 (10-10=20) in 30 games. He ranks third on the team in goals and fifth in assists and points.

D Josh Caron - Kamloops (WHL): The 2010 free agent signing played two games and was a +4 before suffering a broken collar bone. He has not played since the injury, but could return to action this week.

LW Kris Foucault - Calgary (WHL): The fourth round pick (103rd overall) in the 2009 Draft extended his goal streak to five games and has added two assists in that span. He leads all Calgary scorers in points with 22 (12-10=22).

D Colton Jobke - Kelowna (WHL): The 2010 free agent signing was a +1 last week and is now a +1 through 24 games with one goal and five assists.

D Bjorn Krupp - Belleville (OHL): The 2009 free agent signing has a goal and six assists through 28 games this season.

RW Dylen McKinlay - Chilliwack (WHL): The seventh round pick (189th overall) in the 2010 NHL Draft scored his first goal of the season over the weekend and now has four points (1-3=4) in 14 games this season. He missed 16 games with a knee injury.
   
College/USHL

C Anthony Hamburg - Colgate (ECAC): The seventh round pick (193rd overall) in the 2009 Draft played his sixth game of the season over the weekend and picked up his third assist.   

LW Erik Haula - Minnesota (WCHA): The seventh round pick (182nd overall) in 2009 was named to Finland's preliminary roster for the upcoming World Junior Championships. He has three goals and 12 assists through 18 games this season. He leads the Gophers in assists and is tied for third in points. 

D Sean Lorenz - Notre Dame (CCHA): Fourth round pick (115th overall) in 2008 has played 19 games this season and ranks tied for second among Irish defensemen in points with two goals and three assists. He is a +10 on the season for Notre Dame, which is in first place in the CCHA.

D Kyle Medvec - Vermont (HE): Fourth round pick (102nd overall) in 2006 has one assist through 13 games.

F Jason Zucker - Denver (WCHA): Second round selection (59th overall) in 2010 Draft put up three more points over the weekend with two goals and an assist against Alaska Anchorage. His 14 goals rank first in WCHA play and tied for third in the nation. He was named the WCHA Freshman of the Week in each of the last two weeks, and currently leads all WCHA freshmen in goals.

International

F Mikael Granlund - HIFK Helsinki (Finland):
The first round selection (ninth overall) in 2010 has missed the last 20 games with an injury suffered on October 14. He had previously scored three goals and eight assists through 12 games. He was still named to Finland's preliminary roster for the World Junior Championships.

RW Johan Larsson - Brynas (Sweden): The second round selection (56th overall) in the 2010 Draft has two assists in 24 Elite Level games. He's played 10 games with the Brynas junior team and has six goals and nine assists. He has been named to Sweden's preliminary roster for the World Junior Championship. 

F Jere Sallinen - Blues Espoo (Finland): The sixth round selection (163rd overall) in the 2009 Draft has three goals and six assists through 29 games this season. He is a +6 on the year.

Goaltenders

Dennis Endras - Augsberger (Germany):
The 2010 free agent signing is 9-11-2 with a 3.40 goals against average and a .889 save percentage.  

Johan Gustafsson - VIK (Sweden): The sixth round pick (159th overall) in the 2010 Draft owns a 2.36 goals against average and fifth with a .912 save percentage. He has been named to Sweden's preliminary roster for the World Junior Championship.

Darcy Kuemper - Red Deer (WHL): The sixth round pick (161st overall) in 2009 lost in regulation for the first time since October 22. He continues to lead the WHL in every major goaltending category including wins (20), goals against average (1.83), save percentage (.932) and shutouts (five).
