Fantasy Pick: Brent Burns
As he heads to his first NHL All-Star Game this weekend, defenseman Brent Burns is playing the exact same way that he did earlier in the year to earn the invite.
In the Wild's last game Saturday, the blueliner added to his already-impressive season total with three points (1-2=3). The goal, his 14th on the season, moved him into a tie with Mikko Koivu and Cal Clutterbuck for the team lead. He also ranks second among all NHL defensemen in goals scored this season.
Burns is now just one goal shy of tying the Wild franchise record for most goals by a defenseman in a single season, which he set with 15 in 2007-08. Burns has totaled 31 points (14-17=31) in 46 games with the Wild, ranking third on the team and leading all Minnesota defensemen. He also leads the Wild with an average 24:43 TOI/game.
