Fantasy Pick: Pierre-Marc Bouchard
Kyle Brodziak opened the third period of the Wild's last game with a brilliant backhander to give Minnesota the lead Tuesday. Then, feel-good story Jared Spurgeon had the crowd roaring after scoring his first NHL goal to give Minnesota some breathing room against the Oilers. The cheers reached a deafening level when the Wild killed off a 5-on-3 penalty, before Cal Clutterbuck leveled a massive hit at center ice. And, just when you thought the final period of the Wild homestand couldn't get any more exciting, Pierre-Marc Bouchard pulled out the piece de resistance from his bag of tricks.
Bouchard's incredibly clutch finish of what is now his spin-o-rama, capped off an incredible night for the Wild forward. Bouchard totaled a season-high three points (1-2=3) with a +3 rating Tuesday. And while it would be reaching to think that Butch could put on such an incredible performance in front of the hostile crowd tonight in Los Angeles, his hot streak certainly deserves some consideration for your fantasy hockey lineup.
Butch has 13 points (4-9=13) in Minnesota's current 11-4-1 stretch. After returning from a concussion that forced him to miss more than a year at the beginning of December, Bouchard has 23 points (6-17=23) and a +5 rating in 37 games this season.
With Kaptain Koivu sidelined with a broken finger, Butch showed Sunday he is more than capable of helping pick up some of the scoring slack for the Wild. Now, as Kyle Brodziak recovers from an illness at home in Minnesota, it will be up to Bouchard to again showcase his offensive talents tonight.
