Post-Game Notes vs. Edmonton Oct. 13
C Matt Cullen scored his third goal in four games, G Niklas Backstrom made 21 saves and RW Devin Setoguchi scored the deciding goal in the fourth round of the shootout, as the Minnesota Wild defeated the Edmonton Oilers for the 17th straight time at Xcel Energy Center, 2-1, in front of 15,878. Minnesota plays host to Detroit on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
The Wild has won 17 straight home games against Edmonton dating back to the Oilers’ last win at Xcel Energy Center on Jan, 16, 2007. Minnesota trailed tonight for just the fourth time in those 17 games. The 17-game home win streak against one team is tied for the longest in the NHL, according to Elias Sports Bureau. Nashville has won 17 straight at home versus Columbus. Tonight marked just the third time the Oilers have extended the game to overtime in that streak.

C Matt Cullen scored his third goal in the first four games of the season. Cullen scored 12 games last season – none over the final 24 games. Each of Cullen’s three goals this season have come even strength. Just three of his 15 goals last season were at even strength.
G Niklas Backstrom made 21 saves to improve to 15-0-0 all-time at home versus Edmonton. He sports a 1.19 GAA and a .954 SV% against the Oilers at Xcel Energy Center. The only other active goaltender with at least ten decisions vs. one team, all of them wins, is Tomas Vokoun against the Islanders (10-0-0) (courtesy of Elias Sports Bureau). Backstrom improved to 2-9 in his last 11 shootouts and 13-25 in his career.
LW Guillaume Latendresse notched his third assist in four games – all on Cullen goals. Latendresse was limited to 11 games last season due to injury, totaling six points (3-3=6).
RW Devin Setoguchi has three career shootout goals (3-for-9) – including two game-winners.
The Wild killed off two Oilers penalties and is a perfect 8-for-8 on the PK in two home games this season.
