Wild Post-Game Notes vs. Tampa Bay - Nov. 28
G Niklas Backstrom made 32 saves, RW Cal Clutterbuck scored his league-leading third shorthanded goal, RW Pierre-Marc Bouchard snapped a tie late in the second period and C Mikko Koivu scored his 100th NHL goal, as Minnesota Wild ended a six-game homestand with a 3-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning at Xcel Energy Center. Koivu added an assist to extend his point streak to six games for the Wild, which travels to Edmonton for a game on Wednesday before playing host to New Jersey on Friday.

RW Cal Clutterbuck scored his fifth goal in nine games to give him seven goals on the season and 50 in his career. Clutterbuck, who added an assist, notched his third SHG this season to become just the seventh player in Wild history with at least three SHG in a single season. Clutterbuck’s SHG total marks a new career-high, while he also took over the NHL lead. His five career SHG rank him tied for fifth on the team’s all-time ledgers. Clutterbuck’s tally marked the Wild’s third SHG in five games – his second. Five of Clutterbuck’s seven goals this season have come at home. Thirty-one of his 50 career goals have come at Xcel Energy Center, including all five SHG.

C Mikko Koivu posted a goal – the 100th of his NHL career – and an assist, giving him a six-game point streak (3-6=9), the longest point streak by a Wild player this season. Koivu leads the Wild with 19 points (4-15=19) this season. Koivu now has 16 career shorthanded points (9-7=16), five off the team record set by Wes Walz (14-7=21).

RW Pierre-Marc Bouchard netted his third goal of the season – second in three games. The Wild is 43-6-4 in the last 53 games in which Bouchard scores a goal, dating back to Dec. 23, 2006.

G Niklas Backstrom made 32 saves after allowing three goals on eight shots in 8:45 last night. Backstrom improved to 17-2-4 with a 1.91 GAA and a .932 SV% all-time in games after he is pulled (not due to injury). He is 13-0-2 with a 1.70 GAA and a .941 SV% in the last 15 occurrences since March 26, 2008.

Wild D Mike Lundin, who missed the entire pre-season and 23 regular season games with a back injury, played his first game since May 27, when he skated for the Lightning against Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals. Lundin is a native of Apple Valley and became the 10th Minnesotan to skate for the Wild.

RW Nick Johnson posted an assist, giving him a point in back-to-back games for the third time this season.

C David McIntyre made his NHL debut for the Wild. Johnson became the eighth Wild rookie to see action this season – the fourth to make his NHL debut.

The Wild has 10 November wins (10-4-0), tying the team mark for most wins ever in a month. Minnesota had twice before won 10 games in a month, the last time December 2009.

Minnesota improved to 2-0-1 when playing the second half of a back-to-back. The Wild played home games on back-to-back nights for just the third time in team history.

The Wild won for the eighth time (8-6-0) when allowing the game’s first goal, tied with Boston and Washington for most in the NHL. That matches Minnesota’s win total from last year (8-31-4) when yielding the game’s first goal.
