Post-Game Notes vs. New York Islanders - Dec. 17
The Minnesota Wild played to a shootout for the second game in a row, losing to the New York Islanders 2-1. C Frans Nielsen scored the winner in the SO. D Andrew MacDonald scored for the Islanders and RW Cal Clutterbuck tied it for the Wild in the third. G Niklas Backstrom made 20 saves while G Al Montoya made 35 including three in the SO.  The Wild, which ranks first in the NHL, plays at Vancouver on Monday at 9:00 p.m.

RW Cal Clutterbuck scored his ninth goal of the season to tie the game at 8:22 in the third.

LW Dany Heatley posted an assist on the game-tying goal, giving him eight points in the last nine games (3-5=8).

D Andrew MacDonald scored first for the Islanders. He has three goals in four career games versus the Wild.

C Frans Nielsen scored to win the game in the shootout.

RW Jarod Palmer made his NHL debut tonight, leading the team with six shots and skating 15:38. The Fridley, Minn., native is the 12th Minnesota native to skate for the Wild. He is the 10th rookie to play in a game this season tying the record for most rookies used by the franchise in one season. Palmer is also the 33rd different player to appear in a game for Minnesota this season, which ties Winnipeg for the most used by a team. The team record is 40, set in 2009-10.

The total of 10 rookies to play for the Wild this year ties for the most in the NHL.

The Islanders became the first team this season to win over the Wild twice.

Minnesota is 2-4-1 against the Eastern Conference this season.

Minnesota has allowed two goals or fewer in 22 of 33 games. The team is 19-3-0 when allowing two goals or fewer and 1-6-4 when yielding three or more.

Minnesota is a league-leading 12-7-1 when allowing the first goal. The Islanders are 8-3-3 when scoring first.

Minnesota is 11-4-4 in one-goal games. The Islanders are 6-2-6 in one-goal games.

Minnesota has 124 man games missed due to injury so far this season.
