D Jan Hejda snapped a tie midway through the third period, leading the Colorado Avalanche past the Minnesota Wild, 4-2, in front of 19,290 – the sixth-largest regular season crowd ever at Xcel Energy Center. RW Cal Clutterbuck and RW Pierre-Marc Bouchard each scored for Minnesota, which is 0-5-2 in its last seven. The Wild, which got C Mikko Koivu back from a four-game injury absence, plays at Nashville on Wednesday.
 
C Mikko Koivu returned from a four-game injury absence to record an assist. Koivu has points in 14 of his last 15 games (7-12=19) and leads the team with 29 points (8-21=29). Since the beginning of the 2008-09 season, the Wild is 131-105-27 with Koivu in the lineup, and 6-11-3 without him.
 
RW Cal Clutterbuck scored his 10th goal of the season – seventh at home. Clutterbuck has four goals in his last five home games, and five in his last seven.
 
LW Dany Heatley recorded two assists, giving him points in two straight games (1-2=3) and 11 points (4-7=11) in the last 13 games. Heatley posted his second two-point game this season.
 
The Wild scored first for the first time in six games but fell to 8-3-3 when scoring first.
 
Minnesota tallied its first PPG in six games, and its first PPG in five home games since Nov. 27.
 
The Wild is 3-5-3 all-time in its first game after Christmas break. The team is 2-4-3 on Dec. 26, including a 1-2-1 home mark.
 
Colorado snapped a four-game losing streak at Xcel Energy Center.
 
Minnesota is 1-9-4 when yielding three or more goals, having allowed four goals four times in the last six games.
 
The Wild was shorthanded seven times to tie a season-high (Nov. 8 at Calgary). It marked the most at home since Oct. 25, 2010, against Los Angeles.
 
D Jared Spurgeon, one of just four Wild players to skate in all 37 games this season, left the game in the first period after getting run into the end boards by Cody McLeod, who was given a game misconduct.
