Hockey Day In America Coming Sunday

The Minnesota Wild, Xcel Energy Center and St. Paul are hosts for Hockey Day in America presented by McDonald’s on Sunday, Feb. 19. Hockey Day in America is capped off by the Wild’s nationally-televised game on NBC at 2:30 p.m. versus the defending Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins. NBC’s coverage for Hockey Day in America will be anchored at Wells Fargo WinterSkate Rink at Landmark Plaza in downtown St. Paul (75 5th St), featuring Liam McHugh, Ed Olczyk, Mike Milbury and Pierre McGuire beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The Wild is encouraging fans to participate in the event, which begins at 10:00 a.m. and will feature live NBC broadcasts throughout the day beginning at 11:00 a.m. Other activities include USA Hockey American Development Model clinics, mascot autograph sessions, a North Stars alumni autograph session, a North Stars alumni versus media hockey game, plus a live KFAN-FM broadcast. There will also be food and beverage and live music.

12:15 p.m. – Live intermission hits for regional games
12:30 p.m. – North Stars alumni autographs (Broten, Larson, Maxwell, Payne, Jensen, Dahlquist, Beaupre)
12:50 p.m. – Live intermission hits for regional games
1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. – KFAN-FM live broadcast
1:00 p.m. – USA Hockey ADM Clinic
2:00 p.m. – North Stars Alumni vs. Media All-Stars game, including St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman and former Wild player Wes Walz
2:00 p.m – NBC Pre-Game Show
2:30 p.m. – Wild vs. Bruins at Xcel Energy Center
Mike Emrick, Ed Olczyk and Pierre McGuire will call the Wild game for NBC. Emrick will do the “Let’s Play Hockey” call from NBC’s broadcast location on the concourse.
“Hockey Day in America” is part of “Hockey Weekend Across America.” Launched by USA Hockey in 2008, “Hockey Weekend Across America” is a nationwide initiative to celebrate the game and those involved at all levels and to expose hockey to new audiences.
