Post-Game Notes vs. San Jose - Feb. 26
RW Jed Ortmeyer’s first NHL goal since March 2010 snapped a tie with 4:13 left, leading the Minnesota Wild to a dramatic 4-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks at Xcel Energy Center. C Matt Cullen tied it up earlier in the third, while RW Cal Clutterbuck and D Nick Schultz scored a goal apiece and G Niklas Backstrom made 25 saves for Minnesota, which rallied from an early 2-0 deficit and plays host to Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The Wild rallied from a two-goal deficit to win at home for the first time since a franchise-record four-goal comeback versus Chicago Jan. 9, 2010.
RW Cal Clutterbuck scored his 14th goal of the season – first in 11 games since January 31.
D Nick Schultz scored his first goal in 101 games dating back to Jan. 2, 2011, against Phoenix. He recorded his fourth career PPG – first since Oct. 8, 2009, at Los Angeles. This marked his first PPG ever at home. Schultz has 26 goals in 743 career games – all with Minnesota.
C Matt Cullen recorded his 14th goal of the season – third in four games.
RW Jed Ortmeyer scored his 22nd goal in 325 games – his first tally since March 28, 2010, when he played for San Jose. His third-period tally marked his third career game-winning goal.
C Kyle Brodziak skated in his 299th NHL game.
Minnesota went 1-for-4 with the man advantage. The Wild power play is now 7-for-20 (35.0%) in the last eight home games. Minnesota is 15-10-3 when scoring a PPG, and 13-14-6 when not.
The Wild matched a franchise record with three wins (3-1-0) vs. the Sharks in a season, last done in 2005-06 (3-1-0). The Wild also went 3-1-0 vs. the Sharks in 2002-03.
Thirty-one of the Wild’s 62 games have been decided by one goal. The Wild is 17-5-9 overall in one-goal games.
Minnesota won for the fourth time (4-22-6) this season when allowing three or more goals.
RW Nick Palmieri, LW Stephane Veilleux and D Kurtis Foster, all acquired Friday from New Jersey, all played for Minnesota, which established a new team record with 42 players seeing action in at least one game.
