Wild Prospects Report - Feb. 29


Houston Aeros (26-17-12, 64 points, 2nd place in the West Division)
- The Houston Aeros went 1-1-0 last week, falling 3-2 (2/24) before winning 5-2 (2/25), both at Texas. C Chad Rau put up his first three-point game of the season with a goal and two assists (2/25), while RW Justin Fontaine collected three assists on the week. C Jeff Taffe netted two goals, including the game-winner (2/25). G Darcy Kuemper made 30 saves for a .909 SV% (2/24), and G Matt Hackett made 21 saves for a .913 SV% and the win (2/25). This week the Aeros will close out their stretch of 11 consecutive road games, playing at San Antonio (3/3) followed by back-to-back games at Abbotsford (3/6-3/7).

Canadian Hockey Leagues   

LW Brett Bulmer - Kelowna (WHL):
The 2010 second round pick tallied a pair of goals and an assist and was a +2 on Saturday night. He now owns 51 points (29-22=51) in 45 games and is a +7. He now owns 14 multiple point games.

D Josh Caron - Everett (WHL):
The 2010 free agent signing has put up five assists in 33 games with Everett. He also put up six assists in 20 games with Kamloops prior to being traded.

C Charlie Coyle - Saint John (QMJHL):
San Jose's first round pick in 2010 (28th overall) posted a goal and two assists and was a +4 on Sunday. He now owns 12 goals and 12 assists in 16 games with Saint John and he's been held without a point just twice. He's a +15 thus far.

C Tyler Graovac - Ottawa (OHL): The seventh round pick (191st overall) in the 2011 Draft picked up his sixth goal of the season on Friday to reach the 20-point mark (6-14=20) through 41 games.

D Colton Jobke - Regina (WHL):
The 2010 free agent owns 27 points (10-17=27) in 62 games. He ranks second on the team with eight power play goals. 

C Zack Phillips - Saint John (QMJHL):
The 2011 first rounder now ranks eighth in the league in scoring with 76 points (28-48=76) through 51 games. He ranks tied for third in the league with a +43 rating and his assist total ranks sixth.
   
College/USHL

C Anthony Hamburg - Omaha (USHL):
The seventh round pick (193rd overall) in the 2009 Draft has put up 16 points (6-10=16) over thelast 17 games to boost his point total to 25 (8-17=25) in 42 games.

LW Erik Haula - Minnesota (WCHA):
The seventh round pick (182nd overall) in 2009 notched a pair of assists on Saturday to bring his point total to 37 in (14-23=37) in 35 games. He ranks second on the team in scoring and owns a +15 rating.

D Sean Lorenz - Notre Dame (CCHA):
Fourth round pick (115th overall) in 2008 owns 13 points (3-10=13) in 35 games and leads the team with 43 blocked shots.

LW Mario Lucia - Penticton (BCHL):
Second round pick (60th overall) in 2011 Draft has piled up 84 points (36-48=84) in just 50 games as Penticton has rattled off 37 wins in a row. Lucia ranks tied for fourth in the league in scoring and third in goals.

D Nick Seeler - Des Moines (USHL):
Fifth round pick (131st overall) in 2011 was named the CCM Defensive Player of the Week last week after posting a goal and three assists in two games. He now owns two goals and six assists in 11 games with Des Moines. He began the season with Muskegon where he played 32 games and posted 15 points.

F Jason Zucker - Denver (WCHA):
Second round pick (59th overall) in 2010 Draft scored twice over the weekend to bring his point total to 39 (19-20=39) in 29 games played. He ranks second on the team and tied for 15th in the nation in scoring, and ranks tied for 12th in the nation in goals. He's a +4 and has posted 12 multi-point games.

International

D Jonas Brodin - Farjestads BK Karlstad (Sweden):
The first round selection (10th overall) in the 2011 Draft has notched eight assists in 46 games and ranks fifth on the team with a +8 rating.

F Mikael Granlund - HIFK Helsinki (Finland):
The first round selection (ninth overall) in 2010 has racked up 51 points (20-31=51) in 45 games. He ranks third in the league in scoring and tied for fifth in goals and assists. He also owns a +20 rating.

D Bjorn Krupp - Cologne (Germany):
The 2009 free agent signing has notched seven assists through 44 games.

RW Johan Larsson - Brynas (Sweden):
The second round selection (56th overall) in the 2010 Draft has put up 35 points (11-24=35) in 46 games. He ranks third on the team in scoring and second in assists.

Goaltenders

Dennis Endras - HIFK (Finland):
The 2010 free agent signing is now 14-8-3 since going to Finland and ranks fourth in the league with a 2.20 goals against average and a .925 save percentage.

Johan Gustafsson - Lulea HF (Sweden):
The sixth round pick (159th overall) in the 2010 Draft ranks fourth in the league with a 1.87 goals against average and tied for seventh with a .925 save percentage.

Stephen Michalek - Harvard (ECAC): 
The sixth round pick (161st overall) in 2011 is 7-7-8 as a true freshman with Harvard with a 3.13 goals against average and a .894 save percentage.
