Post-Game Notes vs. Colorado - March 4
G Semyon Varlamov made 30 saves and LW Jamie McGinn scored twice in the first period, leading the Colorado Avalanche to a 2-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center. G Matt Hackett made 34 stops for Minnesota, which begins a two-game road trip Tuesday at Colorado to complete the home-and-home.
 
G Matt Hackett made his first career home start and second overall, making 34 saves.
 
D Steven Kampfer, acquired in a trade with Boston last Monday, became the team-record 44th player to play for Minnesota this season.
 
Avalanche LW Jamie McGinn recorded his first career two-goal game.
 
Minnesota is 5-4-3 in its green third jerseys this season.
 
The Wild allowed the game’s first goal for the seventh straight game – including five straight in the opening three minutes.
 
Colorado earned its first shutout at Xcel Energy Center since a 6-0 decision Feb. 8, 2002.
 
Minnesota has been shut out in back-to-back games at home for the first time since Jan. 30 (Los Angeles) and Feb. 8 (Colorado), 2002. The Wild has been blanked in two straight games overall for the first time since March 10 (at Nashville) and March 11 (at Dallas), 2011.
