Wild Prospects Report - Mar. 14


Houston Aeros (29-20-12, 70 points, 3rd place in the West Division)
- The Houston Aeros went 2-2-0 last week, winning 5-1 vs. Grand Rapids (3/10) and 4-1 vs. Abbotsford (3/13), and losing 4-1 at Abbotsford (3/7) and 5-2 vs. Grand Rapids (3/11). C Jeff Taffe racked up eight points on the week (2-6=8), including two one-goal, three-assist games. RW Jon DiSalvatore has scored in three games straight, totaling four goals on the week, while RW Justin Fontaine has tallied six points (2-4=6) during a five-game point streak. G Joe Fallon went 2-1-0 in three games last week, allowing six goals on 93 shots for a .935 SV%. This week the Aeros will finish a six-game homestand, hosting Rockford (3/16), Abbotsford (3/17) and Oklahoma City (3/18).

Future Wild Update

Canadian Hockey Leagues   

LW Brett Bulmer - Kelowna (WHL):
The 2010 second round pick ranks second on the team in scoring with 57 points (32-25=57)  in 50 games. He's a +10 on the season and has registered 16 multi-point games.

D Josh Caron - Everett (WHL):
The 2010 free agent signing scored his first goal of the season on Friday to bring his point total to 13 (1-12=13). He has a goal and six assists in 40 games with Everett after being acquired from Kamloops.

C Charlie Coyle - Saint John (QMJHL):
San Jose's first round pick in 2010 (28th overall) has put up a point in 18 of 20 games since joining the Sea Dogs. He owns 12 goals and 19 assists in 20 games and is a +19.

C Tyler Graovac - Ottawa (OHL): The seventh round pick (191st overall) in the 2011 Draft has totaled 24 points (7-17=24) in 47 games and is a +5 on the year.

D Colton Jobke - Regina (WHL):
The 2010 free agent owns 29 points (10-19=29) in 68 games. He ranks second on the team with eight power play goals and is a +3 on the season. 

C Zack Phillips - Saint John (QMJHL):
The 2011 first rounder (28th overall) has amassed 30 goals and 49 assists for 79 points in 58 games. He ranks third in the league with a +46 rating. He ranks 10th in the league in assists and 13th in scoring.
   
College/USHL

C Anthony Hamburg - Omaha (USHL):
The seventh round pick (193rd overall) in the 2009 Draft has put up 23 points (9-14=23) over the past 22 games and has boosted his point total to 32 (11-21=32) in 47 games.

LW Erik Haula - Minnesota (WCHA):
The seventh round pick (182nd overall) in 2009 notched four goals over the weekend to help Minnesota to a first round sweep of Alaska Ancorage in the WCHA playoffs. Haula now leads the Gophers in scoring with 44 points (19-25=44) in 39 games. He ranks 12th in the nation in scoring and is a +21 on the season. Haula and the Gophers will play in the WCHA Final Five semifinal on Friday night.

D Sean Lorenz - Notre Dame (CCHA):
Fourth round pick (115th overall) in 2008 finished his final season at Notre Dame with three goals and 10 assists in 37 games. The team captain led the squad with 48 blocked shots. Lorenz finished his college career with 155 games played, nine goals and 25 assists.

LW Mario Lucia - Penticton (BCHL):
Second round pick (60th overall) in 2011 Draft was named to the BCHL Second All-Star Team and All-Rookie Team after he piled up 93 points (42-51=93) in just 56 games. Penticton recently had a 42-game winning streak snapped. He ranks tied for first in the league in goals and second in points.

D Nick Seeler - Des Moines (USHL):
Fifth round pick (131st overall) in 2011 owns two goals and seven assists in 15 games with Des Moines. He began the season with Muskegon where he played 32 games and posted 15 points. He was named the League's Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending February 27.

F Jason Zucker - Denver (WCHA):
Second round pick (59th overall) in 2010 Draft notched two assists in Denver's first round playoff series win over Wisconsin. He's posted 20 goals and 24 assists in 34 games and is a +6 and was named to the All-WCHA Second Team. Denver will face Michigan Tech on Thursday in the WCHA Final Five tournament.

International

D Jonas Brodin - Farjestads BK Karlstad (Sweden):
The first round selection (10th overall) in the 2011 Draft has notched eight assists in 49 games and ranks sixth on the team with a +6 rating.

F Mikael Granlund - HIFK Helsinki (Finland):
The first round selection (ninth overall) in 2010 has racked up 51 points (20-31=51) in 45 games. He ranks tied for fourth in the league in scoring and owns a +20 rating.

D Bjorn Krupp - Cologne (Germany):
The 2009 free agent signing has notched eight assists through 48 games.

RW Johan Larsson - Brynas (Sweden):
The second round selection (56th overall) in the 2010 Draft has put up 36 points (12-24=36) in 49 games. He ranks third on the team in scoring and in assists.

Goaltenders

Dennis Endras - HIFK (Finland):
The 2010 free agent signing is now16 -9-4 since going to Finland and ranks sixth in the league with a 2.13 goals against average and tied for fifth with a .929 save percentage.

Johan Gustafsson - Lulea HF (Sweden):
The sixth round pick (159th overall) in the 2010 Draft ranks second in the league with a 1.68 goals against average and fifth with a .932 save percentage.

Stephen Michalek - Harvard (ECAC): 
The sixth round pick (161st overall) in 2011 completed his freshman season at Harvard with a 7-7-8 record. He finished with a 3.13 goals against average and a .894 save percentage.
