Wild Prospects Report - March 28


Houston Aeros (32-23-12, 76 points 3rd place in West Division) - The Houston Aeros have been stopped in the first three games of a four-game road trip, losing 2-1 and 4-1 at Rockford (3/23, 3/24) and 4-1 at Chicago (3/25). C Jeff Taffe scored twice on the week and RW Jon DiSalvatore posted two assists. G Joe Fallon made 15 saves in one start (3/23), and G Scott Greenham started twice (3/24, 2/25), saving 65 shots for a .915 SV% and a 3.05 GAA. This week the Aeros will finish their four-game trip at Milwaukee (3/28) before returning to play seven of their final eight games in Houston, beginning with Lake Eerie (3/29) and Hamilton (3/31).

Canadian Hockey Leagues

LW Brett Bulmer - Kelowna (WHL): The 2010 second round pick Posted two assists in one playoff game and missed one due to a one-game suspension. Kelowna is down 3-0 to Portland in the first round. Ranked 2nd on team in total points despite missing 19 games. Has five points in the last three games (2-3=5).

D Josh Caron - Everett (WHL): The 2010 free agent signing is in the first round of playoffs. Everett is down three games to one vs. Tri City. Scored his first goal of the season vs. Portland (3/9). Finished regular season ranked 8th in WHL in PIM (159 total).

C Charlie Coyle - Saint John (QMJHL): San Jose's first round pick in 2010 (28th overall) leads the league with 12 points (8-4=12) in three playoff games and was named the CHL player of the week. Saint John leads Cape Breton 3-0 in round one after finishing regular season in first. In 23 regular-season games, he totaled 38 points (15-23=38).

C Tyler Graovac - Ottawa (OHL): The seventh round pick (191st overall) in the 2011 Draft has two points (1-1=2) in four playoff games. Ottawa is tied 2-2 with Belleville in the first round of playoffs.

D Colton Jobke Regina (WHL): The 2010 free agent has collected six PIM as Regina trails Moose Jaw 2-1 after three games in the first round of playoffs. Had 29 points (10-19=29) during the regular season.  

C Zack Phillips Saint Johns (QMJHL): The 2011 first round selection (28th overall) ranks third in league with 10 points (2-8=10) in three playoff games. Saint John leads Cape Breton 3-0 in round one of playoffs. Finished regular season 3rd in QMJHL in plus-minus rating, 10th in assists and 14th scoring.

College/USHL

C Anthony Hamburg - Omaha (USHL): The seventh round pick (193rd overall) of the 2009 Draft has helped Omaha clinch a spot in the USHL playoffs. Has three points (2-1=3) in his last two games. Scored eight points (3-5=8) in a season-long six-game point streak (3/2-3/16).

LW Erik Haula - Minnesota (WCHA): The seventh round pick (182 overall) leads team and ranks T-9th in the nation in scoring (20+28=48). On a six-game point streak (6-5=11) to help the Gophers advance to the NCAA Frozen Four.

D Sean Lorenz - Notre Dame (CCHA): The fourth round pick (115th overall) in 2009 has signed with Houston and has joined the team. Finished his final season at Notre Dame with three goals and 10 assists in 37 games. The team captain led the squad with 48 blocked shots. Lorenz finished his college career with 155 games played, nine goals and 25 assists.

LW Mario Lucia - Penticton (BCHL): The second round pick (60th overall) in 2011 ranks 3rd in points (6-3=9) and T-1st in goals after six playoff games. The Vees lead 1-0 over Merritt in the second round of playoffs after finishing regular season ranked first in the league. Totaled 97 points (43-54=97), good for third in the league during the regular season.

D Nick Seeler - Des Moines (USHL): The fifth round pick (131st overall) in 2011 owns two goals and seven assists in 19 games with Des Moines. He began the season with Muskegon where he played 32 games and posted 15 points.

F Jason Zucker - Denver (WCHA): The second round pick (59th overall) in the 2010 Draft has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Wild and is expected to make his NHL debut on Thursday against Florida. Helped Denver advance to the finals of the WCHA Final Five, scoring twice, including an OT winner. He ranked second on Denver in scoring (22-24=46).

International

D Jonas Brodin - Farjestads BK Karlstad (Sweden):
The first round selection (10th overall) in the 2011 Draft scored a power play goal in first round of playoffs (3-1 win, 3/13), his first goal of the season. Team leas 1-0 over Brynas in the second round.  Ranks sixth on the team with a plus-6 rating. Notched eight assists in 49 regular-season games.

F Mikael Granlund - HIFK Helsinki (Finland): The first round pick (ninth overall) in 2011 posted two assists in four playoff games. Team lost to Jokerit in the second round. Finished regular season sixth in the league in points, 11th in goals, seventh in assists and T-11th in plus-minus rating. He totaled 51 points (20-31=51) in 45 games.

D Bjorn Krupp - Cologne (Germany): The 2009 free agent signing is in the second round of the playoffs and trails Berlin 3-0 in the second round. He had eight assists in 48 regular-season games.

LW Johan Larsson - Brynas (Sweden): The second round selection (56th overall) in the 2010 Draft tallied the OT assist to win game six and advance to the second round of playoffs (3/21). Team trails Farjestads 1-0 in the second round. Finished regular season ranked 3rd on Brynas in scoring and assists.  Finshed the regular season ranked third on the team in scoring and assists.

Goaltenders

Dennis Endras - HIFK (Finland):
The 2010 free agent signing lost to Jokerit in the second round of playoffs, posting a .926 save percentage and 2.38 goals against average in four games. Finished regular season ranked T-5th in league in SV% and 6th in GAA.

Johan Gustafsson - Lulea HF (Sweden):
The sixth round pick (159th overall) in the 2010 Draft helped lead his team to first place during the regular season, but was ousted in the first round of the playoffs. He finished the regular season ranked fifth in save percentage and second in goals against average.

Stephen Michalek - Harvard (ECAC):
The sixth round pick (161st overall) in 2011 was named to the second-team All-Ivy League and ECAC All-Rookie Team in his first year at Harvard. Finished with a 7-7-8 record, a 3.13 goals against average and a .894 save percentage.
